USDG of vessels of the head and neck. Indications and informative
The method of USDG of the head and neck, Doppler ultrasound, appeared recently. It provides an opportunity for doctors not only to treat strokes, but also to prevent their development. Previously, it was impossible to “view” the vessels of the head, since the bones of the skull did not miss signals.Today, the USDG of the vessels of the head and neck is the main method of examining diseases associated with circulatory disorders.
The operation of the USDG device is based on the emission of ultrasonic waves and their reflection from the bloodstream, or rather, from the red blood cells. The difference in indicators is an informative parameter, since a change in the speed of blood flow (for example, in atherosclerosis) affects the difference between the emitted waves and the reflected ones. The same method is used to study the ultrasound of the neck vessels, analyzing the blood flow velocity in the vessels and assessing the degree of narrowing of the lumen in them. This is the so-called transcranial dopplerography method, in which the principle is exactly the same, only the emitted waves have a lower frequency. The new method evaluates the blood flow in the cerebral arteries: the basilar, anterior, middle and rear parts of the brain.
Indications for the USDG of the vessels of the head and neck
The following categories of patients are sent for research:
- children over the age of 7 with a diagnosis of perinatal encephalopathy,
- people with sleep disorders
- patients with frequent dizziness,
- people with headaches of any etiology.
Also this analysis is assigned:
Pathology detected by doplerography
The method is informative in atherosclerosis, changes in blood flow in the arteries of the spine with osteochondrosis, aneurysm of the head vessels, occlusion of extracranial arteries, cerebral artery embolism, pre-stroke conditions, after injuries, with osteoporosis. The method is harmless and effective. When uzdg vessels of the brain there is no radiation load.
Doppler ultrasound technology
For the UZDG study of the vessels of the head and neck, no special preparation is required, the patient simply lies down on the couch with his head elevated. Then an ultrasound sensor is applied to the area of the vessels, treated with gel, and a picture is read onto the device. The whole procedure lasts only half an hour. Unfortunately, not all polyclinics in our country are equipped with UZDG devices. In addition, in order to decipher the readings, it is necessary to have special professional training, an untrained doctor will not be able to do this correctly. Recently, a separate specialization has appeared in the medical institutes of the country, which trains these popular specialists. UZDG devices of vessels of the head and neck should be in all medical institutions, since this method allows to establish the exact cause of the disease, without significantly interfering with the body. However, it has no contraindications and side effects and is the only method to explore the vessels.
