The Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Economy Minister Andrei Filonov will discuss on Monday in Moscow the issue of Gazprom’s debt for the transit of gas through Belarus.
Since the beginning of 2010, Belarus has been paying Russia for gas not under a contract, but at a price set by it unilaterally, as a result of which it has already owed about $ 200 million. On Tuesday, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that he gave Belarus five days to decide on payment, and Gazprom called the deadline on June 21, after which, if the situation was not resolved, supplies could be limited. On Thursday, Alexey Miller said that the reduction could reach 85%.
The talks will also deal with the cost of gas transit through Belarus and, accordingly, about the amount of Gazprom’s debt for transit.
