In some cases, these floorings are combined with radiators, which require a lot of warm water for normal functioning. To ensure such uninterrupted work, you have to do your own mixing knots.
What are they needed for?

The boiler produces too much temperature, which does not correspond to the technical possibilities of floor heating, and therefore installs the kneading unit. It settles when the coolant enters the water heating system. Thanks to this device, the hot liquid is mixed with the cooled, as a result, there is a temperature balance. Everything else mixing unit for underfloor heating prevents possible damage to the heating system.
By the way, if a water heater is used that boils water only up to the maximum permissible temperature, it is not necessary to mount the mixing units. But when the boiler is functioning on heating the coolant and is equipped with a separate circuit for heating, such a device will have to be equipped.
Such equipment consists of the following elements:
- The valve. It is triggered when a liquid is too hot.
- Special pump. Its main goal is to increase the pressure in the pipes and uniform heating.
- Bypass This device protects the water heating system from overloads.
When assembling a pumping and mixing unit for a heated floor, it is important to have an idea how it functions in order to avoid mistakes. Works like a device on the following principle. First, the liquid coming from the boiler is retained in the collector; if it is very hot, then a special valve stops it. Then the valve opens under pressure, after which cold water starts to flow from the return pipe. When the temperature returns to normal, the valve rises and passes the coolant.
Types of mixes depending on the valves used
Mixing units must always be installed up to the floor contour. And you can fix them in any room where there is a special cupboard for mixing, even in a room that you heat. Today, two types of mixers are installed: a two-way or three-way valve.
Features of the two-way valve
Such a device is often called feeding. The thermostat installed on it is equipped with an infrared sensor that analyzes the temperature of the liquid entering the warm floor. The head of such a device closes and opens the valve, prohibiting or allowing the flow of hot coolant.
The mixing of liquids of different temperatures is performed in the following way: the water that flows through the system does it cyclically, in a circle. The safety head closes or opens the valve by adding a hot coolant or prohibiting its supply. Most experts recommend to mount in the water floor mix with a two-way valve. However, it should be remembered that this type of crane is better not to apply if the heating area exceeds 200 square meters.
The advantages of the three-way valve
This mechanism regulates the temperature of heating water in the collectors by mixing the hot fluid supplied from the boiler and the cooled floor heating system that has passed through the circuit. In such a valve, a large damper is installed, which acts as a bypass, thereby protecting the floor heating system.
However, if the temperature sensor or other thermal monitoring equipment fails, then too much hot heat transfer fluid will be supplied through the damper in the water heating system, which can damage the entire system.
The main advantage of the three-way valve is the ability to connect additional devices, for example, remote or mounted temperature sensors.Such devices are able to automatically maintain the set comfortable temperature, regardless of the weather conditions outside.
To build a mixing unit with your own hands, you must first prepare the necessary details:
- Union nuts.
- Safety two-way or three-way valve.
- Circulation pump.
- Check valve
- Ball valve
- Manual air vent.
- Tees and stuff.
The assembly technology of the submode assembly is reduced to the installation of thermometers. They are mounted in the return and supply valves. They are necessary to adjust the temperature of the coolant. As a thermostat, a safety valve is used, which turns on mixing when degrees exceed the established rate.
A pump in such equipment maintains uniform heating of the coolant in the pipeline due to its circulation and increase in pressure. Installation of the bypass will allow to control the temperature, protecting the floor heating system from overloads. An important role in the knot podmesa plays a valve filling the water drain. It will not break the passing pipes if the water pressure exceeds the rate specified by the owner of the house.
After the mixing unit for the heated floor will be assembled with your own hands, you should connect it with fittings to the contours. But before starting the system, it is necessary to carry out balancing so that there is a uniform temperature over the entire substrate of the underfloor heating.
How to install a heat mixing unit?
Self-assembled mix will be equipped to the contour of the floor heating system. Installation can be right or left. If suddenly the appearance of the equipment does not fit into the interior, it is better to disguise it.
The first step is to install the pump and the temperature sensor on the inlet pipe. Then a mixing valve should be connected to a warm pipe, and a return valve should be connected to the output pipe. In small premises, collecting the collector to the circuit with batteries is not necessary.
After that, the outlet valve for the return pipe is connected to the cold pipe and is diverted to the mixing one. To check the temperature in the floor heating, a test run is performed.
Connection of a heat-insulated floor to a water heater
Such a system is connected to the boiler according to the scheme, depending on the type of floor heating - one or two-pipe.For example, in a one-pipe heating system, the bypass must be open all the time, whereas in a two-pipe heating system, this is not necessary.
Moreover, the wiring diagram can be either simple or with the use of additional elements. Anyway, for each group of collectors will have to install valves, thermostats and flow meters.
